Heat. It surrounded him, in engulfing him. He saw parched lands, dead livestock and empty fields…is a famine coming or has An Yu Bo the Swamp Gaurdian warning of more war. It was…unclear. All that he could tell from this…was death was going to be a result.
“No use of whinin’ when yew can git sumthin’ dun.” Said an old shaman in his tree house meditating in the cool evening air. Garuda got up and stretched as he walked downstairs to the Main room and saw his wife cooking dinner. He walked over and kissed Lestari. “Evenin’ love, mmm smells like crayfish jambalaya…I hope yew have them hot pepper I there.” He said dipping a finger to tasted, but Lestari smacked his hand, “Rudy, manners yer suppose to be a role model, and no hot pepper Peri is allergic yew know that.” Garuda laughed as he picked up his daughter.
“How have yew been treasure? Yew been a good girl for yer ma?” Nirmala squealed as her father kissed her cheek. “Pappy yer beard itches.” She giggled as father put her back down. Perak walked, in and greeted his father. “Evenin’ pa, dinner ready yet?” He asked sitting at his spot at the table Nirmala joined her brother. Garuda responded as he got the bowls. “It’s ready Ma is gonna serve ya.” He said as Lestari dished up bowls. Perak spoke up as he got his bowl “Didja see anythin’ pa?” He asked as he cooled his food. Garuda sighed as he had his bowl. He didn’t know what to say except. “Nuthin’ I can’t fix.”

Marimo slashed through vines with a machete that he stole in preparation of checking off his number sixteen on the list of 100 things to do before he dies the day before."Lost!" Marimo shouted to himself, he was regretting that at one point he panicked and ran blindly until he couldn't remember his way back. he had irrational thoughts of repulsive creatures, lurking in the murky swamp waters, he linked unrealistic monsters to the skin-crawling noises that he either heard or imagined. Cautiously trying to find his way back to the path he was previously on.
Something hit Marimo on the head, the shock of the event prevented him from seeing what the object was before it disappeared , before it disappeared into the murky swamp water but it at least caused him to regain his sanity. This is getting no where, if i keep this up i might end up dead. Marimo thought about possible ways of escaping the swamp. checking the area for possible obvious escape routes, like if there was a tree he could climb and possibly tell which direction he should go.. Unfortunately all the tree that were within his view were not climbable.
He had heard about some swamp people that live in the swamp. maybe he could find one. He paced on top of a fallen log, with his hand to his chin. he heard a screeching sound to his left and immediately lost focus, and plunged into the parasite infested waters below.as soon as he was able to get up he leaped back up and parted the water with his bending.it was only about three feet in diameter but it kept the water away. the last thing he wanted was a parasite. A monster that manifests inside you uses you as its host, and you don't even know its in you until your eyes start bleeding and fall out, and larvae start crawling out of your mouth and stomach leaving you as food. Marimo shivered at the thought. as he walked back on top of the log.

Garuda finished his meal and took out his pipe and smoked quietly. As night fell he watched his wife knit and his son read a scroll, Nirmala was building somthing with her blocks. Garuda continue to think about what he saw. It was haunting almost how history was going to repeat itself. He got up and got the family spear and kissed his wife's cheek
"Les I'mma gonna go take a walk." Lestari looked up at her husband as he walked to the door. "Be careful Rudy.." Walking thought the dark sticky muck he had a lantern he noticed something or someone in the distace. "Hey hey yew!"
The swamps are dangerous in the dark, Guruda mentally noticed. There was also sorts of stories of creature and monsters that crept in the area. His great-great-great-great Grandmother Kulap was told that while gathering the Twilight Oricid she was swallowed by a giant snake. And giant snakes werent' the only things thats roamed here

Marimo tirelessly looked for a way out, even when night fell, and the bugs started to come out and bite him. It was pitch black, The trees blocked any moonlight that the moon emitted. The moon spirit La could not aid him. He plans for the worst, but for some reason he managed to forget that he could get lost. Of all the things!!!
Something caught his eye in his peripheral vision as we walked under what he thought were two trees, it was hard to tell. what caught his eye was a light bobbing up and down blurring slightly as it moved. Was it a lantern? Marimo squinted at the light slightly moving toward it. Then backing away Was it an ambush predator?! those irrational thoughts flooded his brain again.
"Hey hey yew!" A voice came from the direction of the lantern. In this moment three things happened. 1. He was so relieved to have been found by another human. Even though he had only been lost for about 6 hours although those six hours were the longest in his life.
2. He responded with "HEY! I'm so glad that you found me. i've been lost for who knows how long, and im getting kinda hungry."

The shaman marched over to the figure that was pacing on a log. By the looks of him, he was young, maybe unmarried, around his late teens and a polar waterbender. How on earth did a polar bender get way over in the pit of no-where? It was a puzzling thought. Garuda slugged through the dirt and grime. When the boy responded to him.
"HEY! I'm so glad that you found me. i've been lost for who knows how long, and im getting kinda hungry" Garuda finally approuched him. His blue eyes where bright, he was definently young. Not really niave and young but young as his enthusiam was showing. Young people...where do they get all this energy.
"Yew shoulda be careful! The swamp is dangerous at night, more so cuz of all tha creepies out. Where is yer ma and pa? Shouldn't they been keepin' an eye on a youngin' like yew." Garuda said annoyed with the lantern over he and waterboy. Frowning the old man introduced himself and motioned to the lad to follow him. "I'mma Garuda, the shaman, it's amazing that I found you yew coulda been eaten by one of dem swamp creepies, I better getcha to mah place so yew can rest up. Lestari has some food left over, I wus gonna give it to Aggro but I suppose yew can have sumthin' to eat. Now follow me and don't slack behind."

It took a while for the man, to wad through the thick water. the glow of the lantern in contrast with the pitch black surroundings made him seem like a wandering ghost. "Yew shoulda be careful! The swamp is dangerous at night, more so cuz of all tha creepies out. Where is yer ma and pa? Shouldn't they been keepin' an eye on a youngin' like yew." the man spoke with an accent Marimo had not encountered before, of course he has not been in every part of the world either so this was rather common, and just as common he always kept mental notes on what the basics of the accent is so it might help him later on. He still had those irrational thoughts flooding through his head, and what this friendly stranger said didn't help.
Now follow me and don't slack behind." At the Shamans signal to follow Marimo plopped down off his log and into the water.
"My names Shoji, thank you, i thought i might of gone crazy if you hadn't of shown up, thank you." Marimo gave little sign that he was lieing he's been doing it for his whole life. Garuda kind of reminded him of a grumpy old man that used to live by the Omashu Orphanage. annoyed by the smallest things youngin's did.

Garuda watched as the hopped off the log to follow him, Garuda walked forwarded again as shrill noised reverberated in the air. The boy introduced himself "My names Shoji, thank you, i thought i might of gone crazy if you hadn't of shown up, thank you." Garuda nodded, so this was Shoji? Interesting he wondered why he was all the way up down here? Shrugging he led him back to the tree house
"Watch yer step boy." Garuda walked up around the winding ramp up to the tree house where Lestari was waiting. "Rudy! Where in 'tarnation where ya?! I thought that yew gone git eaten by one of dem giant pythons! Who is this Rudy?" Garuda introduced the boy to his family
"Les this Shoji, found 'em out in around the lower half of the esturaries he got lost most likely, I told him we could give 'em sumthin to eat." Lestari sighed and wandered into the kitchen and fetched a bowl of the jumbalya. Perak got up and looked Shoji with arched eyebrow. "Pa you should have left 'im in the swamp. Doncha know startvation and madness is how the swamp weeds out the stupid!" Nirmala giggled and chanted. "Stupid! Stuuupid, Shoji is stupid." Garuda frowned at this and pointed back. "Yew lot git to bed no more of this tom-foolery, now git now."

as marimo walked up the ramp to the tree house, he stayed close to the trunk, of the tree, who doesn't put railings on a ramp that goes this high up? it seemed like forever to get to the tree house. when he got there he wasn't relieved to hear about giant pythons, or was to happy about being greeted with being called stupid by the shamans annoying little brats.
Marimo took the........food. quickly shoved it down his throat so he couldnt taste it long enough to throw up. he could of sworn he felt it still squirming inside his gut. he was about to compliment the lestari on her "good" cooking when he just happened to look outside. he could see the end of the forest from this treehouse.
it was the best site he had seen in a long time. he assumed a place to sleep on the treehouse splintery wood floor, at least it wasnt the worst place to catch some z's. besides he was excited that he would get out of the jungle in the morning.
